On track: Plans are reported to be chugging along for a proposed theme park on 35 acres near Tanger Outlets in Texas City. Meanwhile, there have been some changes and new developments since this column in July buzzed about the park planned for the south side of the outlet mall, which is at 5884 Interstate 45.
First, Dr. Harvey E. Slusky, the development’s mastermind, has changed the park’s name to Adventure Pointe. In March, when Slusky announced the plans, he called it Playland. Slusky’s family has long been involved in theme parks. His father, Louis Slusky, operated two separate Playlands — one in Houston and another in Galveston in the late 1940s. Some of his other relatives operated theme parks around the nation.
