The Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce announced exciting details regarding the 2018 Celebrating Women: Mind, Body, Spirit. The 11th annual Galveston women’s conference will be held on May 4 at the Moody Gardens Convention Center, 1 Hope Blvd., in Galveston.

This year’s theme is Pink Camo in support of breast cancer awareness and women veterans. The chamber will partner with Susan G. Komen and will also host and honor women veterans for their service and commitment to our country.

Monica Lewinsky will serve as the keynote speaker. She is a social activist, a global public speaker, a contributing editor to Vanity Fair and a consultant. She advocates for a safer social media environment and addresses such topics as digital resilience and reputation, privacy, cultivating compassion, overcoming shame and equality.

Lewinsky is among many other speakers who will share their experience and expertise on a range of topics including personal growth, career advancement, entrepreneurship and more. The University of Texas Medical Branch is a major participant in the conference providing engaging presentations on health and wellness topics that all women can benefit from. New this year are breakout sessions to give attendees the opportunity to discuss specific subjects in a more intimate environment.

“We are so proud of how this event has grown and thrilled to host Monica Lewinsky and other influential speakers at this year’s conference,” said Gina M. Spagnola, president and CEO of the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce. “The conference inspires and motivates women to take control and seize the power of possibility. This year’s event will do just that. We will be celebrating #warriors and stressing the importance of not letting bad circumstances define you for the rest of your life.”

Celebrating Women: Mind, Body, Spirit is an all-day conference designed to educate women about health and women’s issues, equip them with skills to be successful in life and business, inspire them to be their best, and renew their spirit. The conference showcases dynamic speakers, a vendor exhibit area featuring unique products and services that appeal to women, fitness breaks to strengthen and rejuvenate the body, a Book Nook and VIP lounge with opportunities to meet authors and keynote speakers, a signature cocktail party to connect and network with other women and much more. The chamber’s goal is for the attendees to leave the conference feeling energized, inspired and more prepared for life.

“We are grateful for the chamber staff and our outstanding committee this year,” said Theresa Elliott, chair of the Galveston Women’s Conference. “This conference is a great way to spend a day with the women you call friends, family and work associates. Consider giving this as a Mother’s Day gift or as a reward to an associate for a job well done. Or simply gather a group of your best friends and enjoy a day of learning, laughter and relaxation. We invite you to treat yourself and join hundreds of other women as we celebrate mind, body and spirit and each other!”
