The Big Bang Theory Sheldon and Wolowitz (Jim Parsons, Simon Helberg) find they have something else in common — dads who have let them down — as they head for the desert to conduct a rocket experiment in “The Explosion Implosion.” Christine Baranski (“The Good Fight”) returns in her recurring guest role as Leonard’s (Johnny Galecki) mother, whose new friendship with Penny (Kaley Cuoco) concerns Leonard. Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch also star.
7 p.m. on NBC 2018 Winter Olympics Japanese figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu comes into PyeongChang recovering from an injury suffered this past fall; one that kept him out of practice until just a month before the Olympics. How healthy is he and will time away from practice affect his performance? These are the big questions as the men’s short program gets under way. Also on the program are snowboarding; skeleton; freestyle skiing, and cross-country skiing.
8:01 p.m. on FREE Movie: Mulan A Chinese maiden (voice of Ming-Na) disguises herself as a man to take her father’s place in battle against invading Huns in this colorful Disney animated adaptation of an Asian legend. The impressive voice cast also includes B.D. Wong, Miguel Ferrer, Harvey Fierstein, Beth Fowler and George Takei, but Eddie Murphy steals the show as the voice of Mushu, a tiny dragon who becomes Mulan’s traveling companion.
