Law enforcement officials at the meeting, held in response to the mass shooting at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs earlier this month, provided community members with information about safety procedures and training for such events.

The organizers of the Community Thanksgiving Feast will be collecting 12 to 14 pound turkeys through Thursday. The free feast (dine-in only) will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 23 at Our Lady of Fatima School, 1600 Ninth Ave. N., in Texas City. Coats and jackets also will be given away.
