7 p.m. on MAX Movie: Deepwater Horizon Peter Berg’s (“Friday Night Lights”) 2016 biographical disaster flick dutifully chronicles the horrifying April 2010 explosion aboard an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico and the subsequent environmental crisis from the related oil spill. Mark Wahlberg stars as chief electronics technician Mike Williams, who was among the crew members forced to fight for their lives in the immediate aftermath of the blast. Kurt Russell, John Malkovich, Gina Rodriguez, Dylan O’Brien and Kate Hudson also star.
8 p.m. on CBS The New I Love Lucy Superstar Special CBS has had ratings success in rejuvenating classic episodes of the ever-popular 1950s Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz sitcom and colorizing them, so here are two more stories with very familiar guest stars. One of them is Harpo Marx, and he and Lucy do their famous routine mimicking each other as if they’re looking into a mirror. The other tale, “The Dancing Star,” features the suave Van Johnson. William Frawley and Vivian Vance play Fred and Ethel Mertz, of course.
9 p.m. on PBS American Masters Starting what this series is calling a “Chefs Flight” of biographies of cuisine legends, the new documentary “James Beard: America’s First Foodie” recalls the late Oregon native who earned the designation “Dean of American Cookery.” An early proponent of the farm-to-table concept, Beard was an author and columnist as well as television’s first major cooking-show host. Martha Stewart, Ted Allen and Wolfgang Puck are among those who discuss his influence.
