The Front Door Social and Charity Club is encouraging eligible Galveston County high school seniors to apply for the Alfred Gary Scholarship and the Julian Byrd Scholarship.

There will be two $1,000 scholarships and four $500 scholarships awarded.

The deadline to apply is Friday, by visiting www.fdscc.org.

The public is encouraged to preorder a copy of “No Dog Left Behind,” which was written and illustrated by Scott Collegiate Academy Art Students.

The cost is $10 and all proceeds will go toward the Galveston Island Humane Society.

Registration for Galveston Independent School District’s Pre-K 3 & 4 and Head Start (Pre-K 3) will from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the district’s annex building, 3904 Ave. T.

Students must be 3 or 4 by Sept. 1.
