Woman accused of selling crack
BACLIFF — A two-month drug investigation ended with the arrest of a woman accused of selling crack cocaine from her Bacliff residence, authorities said Thursday.
Shamekia Deshon Henderson, 38, remained jailed Thursday on a $60,000 bond on a charge of manufacturing or delivery of a controlled substance, Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trochesset said in a statement.
Deputies arrested Henderson at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 4900 block of Chase Stone Drive on the first-degree felony charge. Deputies recovered 18.7 grams of cocaine, a digital scale and $339 in cash. Henderson was on probation for the same offense in Galveston County, Trochesset said.
Houston man’s gunshot wound was self-inflicted
GALVESTON — An official on Thursday released the name of a Houston man found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on a Galveston beach.
Police found Christopher Harvey, 37, dead in an automobile about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday on the sand near the San Luis Pass bridge on Galveston’s far West End, John Florence, a spokesman for the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office, said.
Police found a “suspicious device” inside the automobile, which prompted a response from a bomb squad. The device appeared to have been an urn, Florence said.
