GALVESTON

The Galveston Police Department Blue Santa Program will have its annual toy drive Thursday through Dec. 22.

New, unwrapped toys, bicycles, outdoor games, gift cards and/or monetary donations can be dropped off at 601 54th St.

TEXAS CITY

The Texas City Lions Club is collecting fleece blankets, toothbrushes, wash cloths, combs and other miscellaneous toiletries through Dec. 23 at The Reef Seafood Restaurant, 1301 311⁄2 St. N.

Donations will go to the residents that live at Elmcroft Assisted Living Center on Dec. 24.

GALVESTON

Moody Gardens Golf Course will be accepting new, unwrapped toys as part of their annual Merry Kids’smas Toy Drive 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily Friday through Dec. 16 at 1700 Sydnor Lane.

Donors will receive a complimentary bucket of range balls.

The golf course also will have its Toy Drive Scramble Tournament Dec. 14.

All toys will be donated to the Resource and Crisis Center of Galveston County.

The Galveston County Blue Knights Chapter will have its 10th annual Toy Run benefiting Toys for Tots on Saturday beginning at Hooter’s, 20790 Gulf Freeway, in Webster and will end at Hooter’s off Beltway 8 in Pasadena.

Registration will begin at 10 a.m., and the ride will start at noon.

The cost is $20 per bike. Ride pins will be given to the first 250 riders. All bikers, clubs and colors are welcome.

This will be a police-escorted ride.

GALVESTON

Ball High School will be accepting nonperishable food items during normal school hours through Dec. 6 as a part of its participation in ABC’s Channel 13 Share Your Holiday’s Food Drive at 4115 Ave. O.

The event culminates from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 6 (Channel 13 will be there from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.) in front of the school.

All food collected will go to the Galveston County Food Bank.

Monetary donations also will be accepted.

LA MARQUE

The 21st annual Custom Specialists Toy Run will begin at 2 p.m. Dec. 7 leaving from 1010 Yupon St.

Registration will begin at noon.

Toys will be accepted daily up until the event. Proceeds will benefit patients at Shriner’s Burn Hospital.

After the run, there will be an appreciation party at Murphy’s on Main, 104 Main St.

The Bolivar Peninsula Lighthouse Krewe will have their annual Christmas dance and toy drive at 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at Sharky’s II, 1021 state Highway 87.

For admission, attendees should take an unwrapped gift for children 18 and younger or a monetary donation.

The Butch Leger and Centerfire band will perform.

Proceeds will benefit the Bolivar Peninsula Community Outreach program.

Interfaith Caring Ministries will be accepting new, unwrapped toy donations for children 12 and younger from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Dec. 13 at 151 Park Ave.

Art supplies, books, grooming supplies, gift cards and fashion accessories for ages 13-17 also will be accepted.

The Galveston Project for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth and Discovery Club is a program that provides services to homeless and displaced children who attend Galveston Independent School District.

You can provide direct assistance to the program by participating in the Adopt-A-Child for Christmas event by selecting a student and purchasing items from their wish list through Dec. 16. Wish lists are available upon request.
