Mitchell Historic Properties will have its annual Holiday Lighting Celebration at 6 p.m. Friday on the front lawn of the Hotel Galvez and Spa, 2024 Seawall Blvd.
The event will feature performances from “The Nutcracker,” Galveston Ballet, Moody Festival Ringers, Fanfare Lutheran Music Academy Chorus, Galveston Heritage Choral, Trinity School Choir, and Christmas carolers.
Admission is free and open to the public.
Santa Claus will make a visit for the public to come out and take pictures from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the model house in West Ranch, 2210 Maple Cliff Drive.
Visitors also can enjoy hot chocolate and holiday treats and register to win door prizes.

The free Lasers, Lights and Magic holiday event will be daily at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m. Saturday through Dec. 31 at Saengerfest Park, 23rd and Strand streets.
The park will transform into a holiday wonderland with music, and a special appearance by Santa Claus, all highlighted by a holiday-themed laser light show.
The Junior League of Galveston County will have its annual holiday charity ball, honoring Karen Flowers, from 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Galveston Island Convention Center, 5600 Seawall Blvd.
The deadline to purchase tickets is Sunday.
The Hospice Care Team will have its annual Tree of Lights ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Monday at The Galveston County Daily News, 8522 Teichman Road.
The group also will be celebrating 30 years of service to the community.
Entertainment by the Ball High School Choir and refreshments will be provided.

The Santa Fe Parks and Recreation Board will have its Community Wide Christmas Tree Lighting event at 6 p.m. Monday at the gazebo at city hall, 12002 state Highway 6.
Refreshments, dance performances, and Santa Claus (camera welcome) will be available.
The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office will have its 15th annual Tree of Angels ceremony at 6 p.m. Dec. 3 at 600 59th St.
A multimedia presentation will be shown throughout the ceremony. There will be a reception immediately afterward.

The Hitchcock Chamber of Commerce will have its annual Christmas parade at 6:30 p.m. and the lighting of the community Christmas tree at 7 p.m. Dec. 4.
The parade will begin on Bulldog Lane, proceed down state Highway 6, and end on the grounds of the Good Ole Days Park.
There also will be performances by the Hitchcock High School band, dance team and cheerleaders, and other local performers.
The city of League City will have a holiday open house and its Christmas Tree Lighting with Santa at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Helen Hall Library, 100 W. Walker St.
