SPACE CENTER HOUSTON — Local and international educators will gather today for the 20th annual Space Exploration Educators Conference at Space Center Houston, where journalist Dan Rather will speak about his experience covering spaceflight.

Rather, who filmed “The New Space Race, Privatization,” at the NASA visitors center, will speak at 8 a.m.

Astronauts and other prominent figures in spaceflight will also speak at the conference, which will run for three days and includes hands-on training from teachers, engineers and space experts.

About 400 educators from 39 states and nine countries are expected to attend the conference, which provides material for teachers to introduce space-based curriculum in class.
