Winter to return, but maybe not for long

Milder conditions eased back into southeast Texas with temperatures Sunday creeping back into the mid- to upper 60s. So far this month, temperatures have averaged more than 7.5 degrees below normal.

Unfortunately, this chilly trend will continue a little while longer. A cold front should move into southeast Texas by late today, bringing yet another cold, wet spell to the county. The good news is that this will not be quite as frigid as our last episode that this coming onslaught of crisp, rainy weather should be fairly brief.

In fact, longer-term models are suggesting that we may be in for an extended spell of relatively mild weather as we head into mid-February. Given the somewhat nippy conditions for much of this winter, this would be more than welcome by many. Dare I say that we may even get a preview of spring? It certainly seems so and I, for one, will not complain.
