I’ll be out of the office on Monday and won’t have a Tuesday Biz Buzz column. So, I thought I would leave you with some small bites of next Thursday’s Buzz.

• Another specialty burger joint plans to bite into the north county/Clear Lake area market.

Smashburger opened its 16th location in Houston this month and a franchisee told bisnow.com he has the Clear Lake area and League City on his radar.

For the uninitiated, the fast-casual restaurant Smashburger is so named because the concept smashes, sears and seasons handcrafted burgers.

• In other dining dish, Riondo’s Ristorante has opened in the island’s downtown.

The eatery, 2328 Strand, offers Italian-inspired cuisine and is in the space formerly occupied by Luigi’s Ristorante Italiano, which closed in December ahead of a move to Houston.

I’ll have more details about both items in next Thursday’s Biz Buzz.

Are you a Smashburger fan? And can anyone out there who has feasted at Riondo's share their thoughts?

Visited Riondo's. We hope they are experiencing some opening jitters. My Caesar salad was crisp and cold, but the dressing tasted like it was poured from a bottle and the croutons, my favorite part, were mushy and had no flavor. We ordered pizza and it was, hands down, the worst pizza I have ever had. The crust was thick, doughy and tasteless. The toppings were sparse and the presentation was sad. My pizza made at home is much better and I'm no gourmet cook. We did like the stuffed mushrooms, but only after we scraped off the creamy sauce off. The sauce was tasty, but it was so thick it overwhelmed the mushrooms. We will go again, but if nothing changes it will be marked off our list.

Four Sons, if you like pizza and haven't tried Farley Girls, give it a whirl. It's my favorite on the Island, so far. Free parking all day long to boot.
