Thanks to everyone who called or emailed today about the absence of Biz Buzz in today’s issue.
I was out of the office Friday and Monday and wasn’t able to report and write the column for Tuesday’s edition.
One reader figured there wasn’t enough buzz to fill the column and we were planning to do away with it. That’s definitely not the case.
I’ve been writing the column twice a week for more than 10 years and rarely do I have trouble filling it. This was just a case of my having to be away from the office for family matters.
There's plenty of buzz going around and I'm working on a column for Thursday. In fact, I'm chasing some interesting, but unconfirmed rumors.
Here’s a small preview:
• Movie theater chain Cinemark is rumored to be preparing for an April closing on the acquisition of land near Tanger Outlets in Texas City;
• The island’s private Pelican Club, of which patrons had to be members or guests of members, is rumored to soon be opening up to the general public. Pelican Club is owned and operated by Gaido’s;
• And a brewery is brewing on the island’s West End.
I’ll have news on those rumors and more in Thursday’s Biz Buzz.
