The impending loss of Luigi's is about to leave a big hole in the Island's Italian lineup. So yes, we'll try it for sure.

Not clear from the article whether it's open yet.

Sorry about that oversight Jake. Hours of operation would be important. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Oh, and yes it's open. It opened Thursday.

Thanks, Laura.

Laura, just out of curiosity: Where's La Port? Would that be next to the town at the southern end of the Hartman bridge? :-) Either that, or your keyboard is on the verge of a breakdown.

Trattoria La Vigna sounds like it might be more than worth a drive across the causeway.

This is a tough crowd! Kevin, you are correct. It's La Porte. I think y'all missed your calling as copy editors. But I like the idea of blaming it on my keyboard, which has a mind of its own.

Looking forward to trying it tonight! [smile]

Sounds lovely. I hadn't heard that Luigi"s was closing are they moving or completely closing and when?

Steve Fouga

I believe Laura reported a few moths ago that Luigi's is moving to Houston and closing the Strand location in December.

Thank you Jake I don't live there and hadn't heard I will miss them [sad]

It sounds lovely and I will surely try it soon, but where on Earth do you park? That was the same issue with Que and Nada coffee bar (which is still open, but has the oddest of hours). There are meters in the area, but most seem to be filled all day.....

Steve Fouga

Well, Four Sons, this is an issue for me, too. I flatly refuse to pay parking to eat. Too many good restaurants on the Island have free parking, and like you say, the downtown metered spaces are often full due to others being willing to pay.

My solution is to park free several blocks away, and walk.

I wish the City would allow us to pay annually for downtown parking the same as we do for the seawall. Then I'd probably relax my rule about paying parking to eat. [wink]

Barb Falkenhagen

Jake Buckner I agree with you. City please, please let me purchase an annual pass. I hunt for change when I just need to run into Tina's for a quick gift. Forget trying to feed those meters dollar bills, and don't get me started on a credit card. It took nearly 10 minutes for the meter to complete the transaction last time I tried.
