After sitting empty for two years, the building that formerly housed Macy’s at the Mall of the Mainland has a new owner and fate.

Attorney and developer Jerome Karam has acquired the 150,000-square-foot building that was home to department store Macy’s until 2012.

Karam, according to a public relations representative, plans to open a World Gym franchise in the building.

Karam plans to use 42,000-square-feet of the Macy's building for the World Gym franchise. It will be the largest World Gym in Texas.

I'll have more details in Thursday's Biz Buzz.
