Q: Will you have your home phone number listed in the phone book or your mobile number listed for the public to contact you directly?

Yes___X___ No_______

Q: Why should voters choose you?

A: I was born and raised in Dickinson. My wife and I raised our family (3 children) in Dickinson. I have served in the Dickinson Volunteer Fire Dept. 35 yr’s., and also other local organizations, including Dickinson Citizens Police Alumni, Citizens on Patrol, And the Festival of Lights.

Q: What are your specific qualifications for the position?

A: I have served on the Dickinson Economic Development Board, City Council, And Presently Serving out a 6 mon. term. I have the experience and knowledge to serve the citizens of Dickinson.

Q: What are the issues in this campaign?

A: Regardless of whether there are any campaign issues, I want to see the City prosper and grow.

Q: What is your platform on those issues?

A: I think the City needs to watch it’s finances more closely. According to council members, the City enacted a ½ cent sales tax to balance the budget a few years back instead of cutting the budget. I do not believe this is the way to run the City.

Q: How would you rate the management of the city administrator?

A: It’s ok, I believe the communication line between the Administrator and all of City Council could be better.

Q: How would you rate the city’s work on infrastructure improvements: Poor, fair, about right or excellent? And why?

A: I think it’s fair. I would have thought more streets would have been repaired in the 4-5 years.

Q: What should Dickinson be doing to attract more business to the city?

A: Having served on the Economic Development Board, I do not think the Council and DEDC board or on the same page. The two boards need to meet and come up with a game plan of what the Council wants so the DEDC board can carry out those plans.

Q: What should the city’s economic development priorities be?

A: I’ve been told that residents would like to have more varieties of restaurants. We need higher paying jobs for the City’s residents and the City needs to repair more streets, and clean up the City. It appears the appearance of the City has gone down in certain areas in the last few years.

Q: County officials are considering asking the Festival of Lights to move to another park? Do you support that move? Why or why not and what would you do to address the request?

A: I do not support this move. At the present time there is no other place big enough in the City to handle the Festival. I will help the Festival Board anyway I can as a Council Member. I have been an active volunteer for many years at the Festival of Lights. The Festival of Lights has invested over $75,000.00 on upgrades to the electrical service, concrete sidewalks, cleanup, tree cutting (including manhours) and other labor intensive efforts have also been done at no cost to the County.

Q: Should the city consider a charter election to change its form of government to a council-manager system? Why or why not?

A: I think the present form of City government works fine the way it is.

Q: What area of city spending would you want to see reduced and why? What area of city spending would you support increasing and why?

A: I know the City budget is being supplemented with a ½ cent sales tax. This is not the proper way to balance the budget. Until the budget workshops begin I’m leary on what needs cutting, but I do not see how the City could increase spending at the present time.
