Q: Why should voters choose you?

A: I have no agenda. My only concern is what I think is best for the City of Santa Fe.

Q: What are your specific qualifications for the position?

A: Five years of experience on City Council, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, 29 years operating a small business in Santa Fe.

Q: What are the issues in this campaign?

A: The two issues that come to mind are, 1) The Justice Center bond, and 2) How the tax money is spent

Q: What is your platform on those issues?

A: 1) I am a supporter of the Justice Center bond. 2) I believe that my conservative outlook has contributed to keeping the budget down.

Q: Do you support the proposed police station bond issue? Why or why not?

A: I support the Justice Center bond proposal. Anyone who has visited the existing facility knows that much improvement is needed. The plan for the proposal was created by a group of citizens that had supported and opposed the previous bond proposal. Interest rates are low and contractors are eagerly looking for projects to build.

Q: If you support the bond referendum, what assurances can you offer the money will be spend the way it's intended? If you do not support it, what is your specific plan to address the needs of the police station and courts?

A: A referendum will be voted on at the April 25 council meeting that should clear the air on how the bond money can be used.

Q: How would you rate the performance of the Santa Fe Police Department?

A: I think that the Santa Fe Police Department is doing a very good job. Is there room for improvement? Certainly! We are continually striving for improvement thru additional training.

Q: How would you rate the leadership of the city manager?

A: I rate the performance of the City Manager as excellent. He is fair and evenhanded when dealing with citizens and city employees. He sees that city policies are being followed while allowing department heads to run their departments.

Q: What is your opinion of the city's annexation process and plans for future annexation?

A: Since I have been on council, I have voted for annexation when I thought it was the right thing to do and done properly. I have also voted against annexation when I thought it was the wrong thing to do or done improperly. I will continue to use these requirements as my guide.

Q: What area of city spending would you want to see reduced and why? What area of city spending would you support increasing and why?

A: During the budgeting process, council looks at many items in each department to see what can be reduced or eliminated. Each year there seems to be several things that have increased in cost such as fuel or road material. We have to find reductions in all areas in order to be able to fund the difficult to control expenses.
