Local resident launched rebuilding effort with $10,000 gift

In September, Texas City resident and businessman, Randy Dietel, pledged $10,000 to the Salvation Army of Galveston County. Dietel's gift helped to launch an ambitious capital campaign, chaired by Chris Doyle, President/CEO of Texas First Bank. Many gifts followed, all helping to push the campaign forward to where it stands today at just over $3,050,000.

Over $52,000 raised for The Salvation Army Capital Campaign

A small group of community-minded citizens gathered at Moody Gardens recently for an invitation-only presentation on the current capital campaign of The Salvation Army. John Zendt, President and CEO of Moody Gardens and Gina Spagnola, President of the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce co-hosted the event, which was sponsored by Moody Gardens. When the evening was over, the powerhouse group had made gifts and commitments totaling more than $52,000.

Among those attending the presentation were Congressman Randy and Brenda Weber, Howie Bentley, Edgar and Lavinia Bircher, V.J. Tramonte, Rosemary and Charles Doolin, Denise Vargas, Meg Winchester, Mary Jo Nascke, Becki Habib, James and Susan Clark, C.B. Rathburn, Grant Shallenberger and Vida Rector.
