For authentic Mexican cuisine served up fresh and tasty in a friendly atmosphere, it’s time you discovered the gem of Mexican restaurants — El Gusto Del Pueblo Restaurant.
Located in Galveston since 1991, El Gusto’s menu offers a wide variety of Mexican dishes based on traditional recipes from Veracruz, Puebla and Yucatan, as well as Monterrey, the birthplace of Gildario “Ruben” López, who, along with his wife, Maria, owns and operates El Gusto Del Pueblo.
El Gusto’s recently updated menu offers even more of the foods customers love, including fish tacos, shrimp tacos and enchiladas topped with queso fresco. If you’re in the mood for something that’s not on the menu, just ask! El Gusto chefs are happy to make up any plate not on the menu upon request.
The kid’s menu also has some new items, including favorites such as chicken nuggets, chicken tenders and hamburgers.
The basis for any Mexican restaurant is its salsa, and El Gusto Del Pueblo’s outstanding salsa hasn’t changed. The homemade salsa is created from three kinds of peppers, including fresh jalapeño, habañeros and chile de arbol. The salsa is served with fresh chips with every meal.
El Gusto Del Pueblo also makes its own flour tortillas and tamales.
Especial wine from Mexico also is served at El Gusto Del Pueblo, and mixed drinks have been added to the beverage list.
El Gusto Del Pueblo also prides itself on offering quality, cleanliness, service and value.
“If you want a piece of Mexico, come to El Gusto for an authentic taste of the south,” Lopez said.
Open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., El Gusto Del Pueblo serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The complete menu is available all day. El Gusto Del Pueblo’s 3714 Broadway location offers convenient parking to the rear of the restaurant.
